I know I already posted about temptation ( I think ) but they were only Bible verses, but this is in more depth!
Some of this is from a sermon by Randy Skeete
Read on!!!... Please? ^.^
Part 1
So how do we go about resisting temptation? Like all things, you first have to know what it is.
What is Temptation?
A temptation is an invitation from without or within to act, think, or speak contrary to God's will.
Facts about temptation ( the main key points I wrote from the sermon) :
- All temptations lead the tempted person away from right living, right doing, right thinking, and right speaking.
- No temptation brings you to confirmity in/with God's will.
- The devil (Satan) hurts God through us. He is only using us to hurt God.
- The devils ultimate aim is not us, but our heavenly father.
"Everything in nature comes from God; Yet Satan can inspire his agents with thoughts that appear elevating and noble. Did he not come to Christ with quotations of scripture when designed to overthrow Him with his specious temptations? This is the way in which he comes to man, as an angel of light disguising his temptations under an appearance of goodness, and making men believe him to be the friend rather than the enemy of humanity. It is in this way that he has deceived and seduced the race -- beguiling them with subtle temptations, bewildering them with spacious deceptions." - Fundamentals Of Christian Education - Ellen White
Lets end part 1 with a hopeful verse:
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. - 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7
